Properties and advantages: In our country, we mainly meet the seeds of common beans, which are grown in many varieties, their seeds differ in color, shape and size. Most often we can find these other types of beans: white small and large jumbo, black eye, red, adzuki, Pinto, mung and others. Beans are rich in high-quality plant proteins and mainly form a storehouse of vitamins and minerals. They contain a large amount of calcium and potassium and a higher amount of folic acid, but also phosphorus, magnesium, iodine and iron, niacin and provitamin A. They are good for the heart, blood circulation and high blood pressure. Thanks to their fiber content, they help regulate bowel function. They are suitable for diabetics. Beans are also grown for pods or sprouts, but we classify them as vegetables.

Use: Before cooking, the beans must be soaked in water for 10-12 hours (overnight). Then pour out the water, rinse the beans and cook in new water for 90 minutes, or 20 minutes in a pressure cooker. In order to reduce flatulence, we recommend adding herbs such as: sage, cumin, fennel, turmeric, coriander or marjoram. Beans can also be sprouted, which increases the digestibility of high-quality vegetable proteins and enriches us with additional vitamins and minerals. Beans can also be used to make tasty pastes or interesting salads. It is suitable for soups, sauces or as a healthy side dish.
